HENS
AND CHICKEN is a shallow reef (5 to 25 feet) located about two miles off of
Islamorada. The reef is marked by a 35 foot tower that is visible to the north as you
leave either the Snake Creek or Whale Harbor channel. The reef is a fun shallow dive and
perfect for snorklers. Although cold water temperatures killed some of the star coral in
1970, the reef is still a favorite residence for tropical fish. Hens and Chickens is also
a popular hangout for barracuda. The reef is equipped with mooring buoys.
